Wichitans catch a whiff of Chicken N Pickle

By Katie Smith, A&E Editor

After so many years of wanting Wichita to become a destination city, it finally is - for Pickleball fans at least.

The restaurant and entertainment complex, Chicken N Pickle, has officially opened its largest location on the east side.

Chicken N Pickle features 10 pickleball courts, two bocce ball courts, four shuffleboard courts, ping-pong tables, yard games, an outdoor venue space, four bars, an outdoor stage, and tons of hangout coves.

Pickleball is a game that resembles tennis in which players hit a perforated ball over a net with wooden paddles.

Chicken N Pickle has cozy and industrial vibes, with tons of tables in their open-seating restaurant, fireplace cove and large gaming room.

One wall of the game room is window doors that open up to the outside connecting customers to the courtyard featuring yard games and four outdoor pickleball courts. During the winter, these courtyards will be turned into ice rinks and curling rinks.

When customers come into the restaurant, they have the option to open a tab that will follow them around the complex. Those who want something to snack on are welcome to order at the counter and their food will be delivered to them wherever they are. The menu features sandwiches, rotisserie chicken, salads, and munchie-type bar foods including wings, tostadas and fondue.

If you want to play pickleball, groups are encouraged to reserve a court on their website for $20 an hour from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and $40 an hour after 5 p.m. and on weekends.

The complex features $2 Taco Tuesdays and $5 open pickleball play, where customers compete against strangers any day from open to close. Chicken N Pickle is located at 1240 N. Greenwich, in the Plazzio development next to The Alley.
