The seasons constantly change, and so should our wardrobes. Several weeks ago, we said goodbye to tiny tank tops and blue jeans and said a happy hello to chunky sweaters and baggy jeans. I don’t know about you, but I experience a great sense of joy when piecing together outfits during the months of autumn. Fall ’fits are all about playing with different textures, tapping into a variety of colors and layering up.
As many of us Midwesterners know, the weather is rather unpredictable, which makes adding layers important during the fall. A basic long-sleeved tee should serve as the base layer. From there, you should add a comfy sweater or cozy cardigan to warm up. Lastly, complete the outfit with a staple outer layer, which may be a coat or a trendy jacket. This method will not only keep you comfortable but also will give you the ability to change your look as the day goes on.
Fall is the season to really tap into wearing different textures including wool, corduroy and suede. Do not be afraid to mix and match textures as well: A leather jacket over a knit sweater with a jean skirt can add a great contrast that gives both chic and casual.
Mother Nature is gifting us with beautiful, booming autumn colors, and we should incorporate these colors into our wardrobes. Burnt oranges and deep reds are colors that capture the true essence of fall. These colors can appear in your day-to-day outfits through accessories such as hats, scarves, jewelry, etc.
With the changing of the seasons also comes the rotating of shoes. Mini boots are a fall staple that offer both comfort and style to any look. For the warmer fall days, a trendy sneaker can keep the ’fit looking good while providing immense comfort all day long.
Embrace this fall season by creating and styling your ’fits in your own personal way. I always say: “Look good, feel good.” So whether you’re enjoying a pumpkin spice latte or taking a nice walk in the crisp breeze, allow your outfit to imitate the beauty of fall.
