Junior Tracy Nguyen said she loves food, and whenever she goes out to eat at different restaurants, she always makes sure to take photos of the food to post on her special foodie Instagram page.
Nguyen said she started posting aesthetically pleasing photos of food after graduating high school.
“Ever since then, or more like whenever I eat out and think something looks aesthetically good enough, I will take a pic for Instagram,” Nguyen said.
Though Nguyen has posted a wide variety of food pictures over the past few years, naturally, she has a few favorite places to eat. Nguyen said some of her favorite places to eat around Wichita are:
Poke Mix, 8918 W. 21st St. Suite 600: Nguyen said that Poke Mix was her “first love,” meaning it was her first Instagram food photo.
“Poke is just so perfect. It is everything you could possibly want in a bowl,” Nguyen said.
Le Monde Cafe, 602 N. West St.: Nguyen said it serves Mediterannean-style food and is a great place for casual meals.
“Best way I can describe it is very homey and cozy with great wait staff,” she said.
Yokohama Ramen Joint, 613 W. Douglas : “I love ramen. Yokohama serves delicious ramen, which is perfect for the cold weather,” Nguyen said. She said her personal favorites are the Tonkotsu Curry Ramen, Black Garlic Miso, and the Spicy Beef Tongue.
Dempsey’s Burger Pub, 3700 E. Douglas: Dempsey’s serves gourmet burgers at an affordable price. “The food is so good, and the place is great for friends and couples to go out,” Nguyen said.
Avivo, 2441 N Maize Road: Nguyen said Avivo serves great Italian food, such as wood-oven pizza, pasta, and paninis. “This place is good for family or group meals. I would describe Avivo as more chill, a great hangout/date place,” she said.
Taco Fajita, 1004 S Meridian Ave: “Yum.” Taco Fajita has great soft tacos for $1 a taco. “It is a great place to stop by for lunch. I always buy at least 10 tacos,” Nguyen said.
Tropicana, 2021 N. Amidon: “Mmm, so good. They serve all sorts of food here. There [are] a lot of desserts, [but] mainly their homemade Mexican ice cream. They also have a variety of lunch and dinner options,” Nguyen said.
Nguyen said she plans to continue posting food pictures because it serves as a personal journal.
“A lot of my social life revolves around food. I can look back and see the places I visited and remember the people I spent time with,” she said.
