CAB to host two-night trivia event with prizes

By Courtney Klaus, Editor-In-Chief

Lots of Student Life events didn’t happen this year, but Campus Activities Board members want to finish out strong with one last event before the end of school: an online trivia night.

“We’ve come up with a way to still engage students at an end-of-the-year event without having Breakfast and Bingo… We wanted to do trivia night because we felt like it was the easiest event we could do, and we could still give out a lot of prizes in the meantime,” CAB Chair Katie Smith said.

The event starts at 6 p.m. and happens on two days, Sunday and Monday. Sunday, the event will be on Facebook Live. On Monday, it will be on Instagram live.

Smith said CAB wanted to do the trivia nights on two different dates and platforms to make it accessible to as many students as possible. Students can tune into one or both of them.

Trivia questions will be asked by Director of Multicultural Engagement and Campus Life Joseph Shepard.

The tougher the question, Smith said, the bigger the prizes.

The bigger prizes include a Nintendo Switch, a $250 Amazon gift card, and an ancestry DNA test.

Students who answer other questions correctly will choose from a multitude of gift cards from local businesses in Wichita, including 86 Cold Press and Picasso’s. Some of the gift cards are valued at up to  $100.

CAB member Jacob Kleespie said they kept local businesses in mind while choosing their prizes, given that many small businesses have been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Of course we know this event isn't going to be the full scale that Breakfast and Bingo was, but what we're hoping for is just to have a fun event for students to take a break from their studying and come together despite the disruption of the school year,” Kleespie said.
