There’s a new game club in the making at Newman University.
Sophomore Kenny Le is starting the “Game Exploration Club” and said his motivation is to meet new people and get more involved on campus.
“I suppose another reason was to find something that helps release the stress of school,” Le said.
Dr. David Shubert, whom Le had for organic chemistry, will be the club advisor. Le said that after he and Shubert had a discussion about board games, he decided he would be an amazing fit for the role.
Members of the new club will play all types of games, ranging from cards and board games to video games. The main idea is to have people teach each other games and then actually play them.
“I feel like people should expect a unique environment. I want to create a friendly but competitive environment,” Le said. “Or it could be a calming environment where you can escape the stress of the world for a second. I want people to feel welcome and excited to try something new or share something with others,”
Anyone who is interested in joining the club should reach out to Le at le538458@newmanu.edu
The club held its first meeting on Oct. 6 and is planning the next meeting soon.
