Seniors are always worried about their next steps when it comes to graduation. And although many soon-to-graduate Newman students are still trying to figure out what to do next, some already have jobs lined up.
Here’s a look at some of the seniors who already know how they’ll begin their professional lives:
Madeleine Smith is majoring in accounting with a minor in art and will be a staff member in the audit department of Adams Brown, a local accounting firm in Wichita.
Steven Nguyen is a secondary education and English major. He applied for a teaching position at Kapaun Mount Carmel High school, and after two interviews, he got the job. He will be teaching freshman and sophomore English and is the youngest teacher Kapaun has ever had on staff.
Alondra Torres-Hernandez, a double major in psychology and criminal justice with a minor in Spanish, will be an assistant director at Angel Wings Learning Center while also attending the Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy program at Friends University.
Julia Myers, majoring in business data analytics, has a job lined up at Textron Aviation Defense as an aftermarket data analyst. She’ll be primarily working with sales data for planes by visualizing important metrics with BI (business intelligence) tools, cleaning data, and analyzing transactions. Myers has been interning for Textron over the past year and was offered the position after her internship finished. She’ll start on June 13.
Ty Wilson, a sports communication major, finds his future in Dodge City. He will be the assistant golf coach for the men’s and women’s teams at the community college there. He’ll start the position in the fall of 2022.
Anna Veltien is majoring in biology with a concentration in medical technology. She’ll be moving back to her hometown in Longmont, CO, where she’ll be working at Nextera Healthcare, a small family medicine practice. She’ll be working as a CNA (certified nursing assistant)/receptionist there while also applying to PA (physician assistant) school.
Kayla Garvert, a double major in business data analytics and management information systems, has a full-time job lined up at Textron Aviation. She is getting married at the end of May, and once she gets back from her honeymoon, she will be starting her job as a data analyst.
