Newman’s Student Government association has some new senators.
During Jet Friday last week, SGA announced the winners of 11 races for senate seats. Students had been campaigning for the positions with posters and flyers around campus and on social media.
To even run, the candidates had to have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher and fill out an intent-to-run form by a deadline.
Students voted online Sept. 13-18. The winners now will have their positions for the rest of the school year and vote on bills and serve on committees.
They’ll be serving alongside existing senators and members of the executive board, who were elected in the spring: President Alondra Valle, vice president Gabriel Trevino, Secretary Grace Long and Treasurer Nathan Galicia.
Here is a list of the winners announced last week:
Corbin Molina - senior, arts & letters chair
Thomas Munn - senior, business chair
Faith Crabb - junior
Grace Hertel - freshman
Jenna Ju - freshman
Grecia Nunez - sophomore
Olivia Patton - freshman
