Newman’s Gaming Club invites all students to attend its event: a live game show that mimics the TV game show “Chain Reaction.”
“Chain Reaction,” which originally aired on NBC starting in 1980, has gained popularity in recent years on social media. It’s a word game that uses a bit of logic, and contestants must solve “word-chains.”
Deqlan Mitchell, the club’s public relations chair, gave an example: “HOT to DOG, DOG to PARK, PARK to RANGER.” Teams compete to get the most words in each chain.
Newman’s version will happen at 7:30 p.m. on Monday in the DeMattias Performance Hall. Students will be chosen out of the audience to participate.
“We plan on doing something similar to ‘The Price is Right’ and pull contestants from the audience,” Mitchell said.
Mitchell said that groups of three will be chosen to play together, so if audience members want to increase their chances of being chosen, they should come in groups.
The game show is open to all students as well as to faculty and staff. Three games will be run on the night of the event, and the winners will get prizes. Snacks and drinks will also be provided.
Mitchell provided a word chain that students can practice with to prepare:
