The stage lights will dim for the final time next weekend on Newman Music Director Deanne Zogleman’s tenure at Newman.

Zogleman’s final spring show will be performed at 7:30 p.m. May 1-3 in the DeMattias Performance Hall and will include the return of several music alumni.

Zogleman, who along with accompanist Carole Pracht will retire at the end of the year, will lead the show, which was written by Newman alumni and will feature the performers portraying themselves and having a family reunion.

The founder of the spring show, Zogleman has been a part of 20 installments throughout her career. She said she will miss many things about them.

“Obviously, I am going to miss my students,” Zogleman said. “They are the reason I have been here for 20 years.”

The songs included in this year’s musical will cover many different genres including Broadway, pop and jazz. The cast will include 13 current students and 53 returning alumni.

This show means everything to her, Zogleman said.

“It is a celebration of the family that we have created over the past 20 years, through the students, Carole and I,” she said.

The chorale students have been rehearsing since January.

Senior Corbin Molina said the show will likely feel like a real family reunion with so many alumni participating.

“Bringing the alumni back to the stage to give Deanne and Carole the send off they deserve with all the students they have made an impact on will be the best part,” he said.

General admission tickets are $12 for adults, $5 for students and free for Newman students with their Newman IDs.
