The Newman University Fine Arts Department recently performed a dinner-theatre style show titled “Death by Chocolate,” written by Paul Freed. This is a review of the Thursday showing, performed Oct. 11, which included an understudy substitution for Lady Riverdale.

Newman’s newest addition to its art collection has found its home on the first floor of the Bishop Gerber Science Center. “Mechanical Flag,” created by Luis Perez-Aguayo, was constructed from wood, paint and steel as a tribute to the Wichita city flag.

The notorious campus cats, it seems, are especially fond of one member of the Newman University security team. Mike Burns, a two-year member of the team, spends his days patrolling campus, and he frequently tends to Newman’s resident cat population.

Newman University opened its arms to all aspiring poets, singers, and songwriters during a new open mic event in late September, and it continues until the beginning of November.
