The Sloppy Joes Improv Troupe’s edible fundraiser is back on campus. The improv group is hosting a soup sale every Wednesday in the hallway of DeMattias’ lower level.

Sloppy Joes Captain Brenden Schwartz said funds will go towards the Sloppy Joes as well as the Theatre Club.

The stand will sell different types of soups as well as hot drinks and desserts. The soup will be sold for $3 per serving while desserts will be $2 and drinks $1. The soups that have been sold for the last two weeks were minestrone, potato soup, turkey and noodle, and vegetable soup. The Sloppy Joes have also sold hot chocolate, apple cider and desserts such as hot chocolate cupcakes and puppy chow.

Senior Marie Moore, member of the Sloppy Joes, said the club likes hosting this fundraiser since it doesn’t produce revenue from its free admission shows.

“This is just a way for us to give back to Newman while also bringing in some funds for the Sloppy Joes and Theatre Club,” Moore said.

Moore said the members of the Sloppy Joes or Theatre Club can volunteer to make a soup for the week.

“So for this week, myself and Rebekah Lipinski made the soups,” Moore said, referring to the minestrone and potato soup. “Then we’ll have a sign up sheet so a bunch of different people can sign up to bring certain soups for the rest of the semester.”

The Sloppy Joes plan to stay open from approximately 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Wednesday.
