Don't forget the annual Spring show opens tonight

By: Brenden Schwartz, Staff Writer

Tonight is the opening of the Music Department’s annual Spring Show. This year’s show is titled “It’s Time to Play…” and follows a family’s journey as they make it on their favorite game show.

It features a wide variety of songs. Some you may be familiar with, and some may be new to you, but you’ll enjoy them all.

This year’s Spring Show was written by Newman students Austin Schwartz, Brenden Schwartz, Allison Williams and Rebekah Lipinski. It’s the first time students have been involved in the writing process for the show.

The cast has added some new members to the choir this year. One of them being Ashur Khokhar, a sophomore biology pre-med student. Khokhar said he was intimidated when he first joined the choir because he was surrounded by such talented veteran members. However, he felt like a member of the family right away as they welcomed him into open arms, he said.

“Being able to work with such amazing and talented people really helps me get into the performance,” said Khokhar.

There are also members who have been doing Spring Show for the past couple years and they are still just as excited. Alex DeHoet, a junior biochem major, enjoys participating in the spring show because it gives him a chance to get to know his classmates better as well as explore new music, he said.

“It’s Time to Play…” opens tonight in the Performance Hall at 7:30 p.m. It will run tomorrow and Saturday night at the same time and have a final matinee performance on Sunday at 2 p.m.
